October Meeting

At our October meeting Monica shared with us her techniques and favorite for using wax resist to create her own hand dyed fabrics.   She uses a variety of materials for dyeing and brought us some beautiful fabric samples to inspire us. Visit Monica's facebook (Lalalamonique) page to see more of her creations and handmade bags.

Heather brought the blocks she created each month for this year's block of the month club so we could see them all together. Directions for each block can be found here. We love Heather's modern fabric choices to modernize traditional blocks!!

October was no exception, we had many beautiful quilting projects to enjoy. Becca was excited to show us her ribbon and quilt titled "Soul Stealer". This quilt travelled to Paducah, KY, and then on to the AQS show in Des Moines, IA, as part of the BadAss Quilters exhibit. Check out Becca's blog for more details on her inspiration to make this quilt come to life.

There were many, many, more projects to admire, we love to share our finishes!

Linda shared with us some of her favorite new print resources, Block, by the Missouri Star Quilt Co., and Quilt Lab by C&T Publishing.

Quilt Bingo - A Great Success!

Thanks to everyone who came out and made this night a success! A good time was had by all.  A big thank you to Kathy for chairing this function and to Jan for organizing donations.

In addition, four gorgeous quilts were put together by our guild, led by Amy, Linda, Deb, and Laura for the special bingo games and members contributed time making blocks, quilting, and binding.  Members also made raffle baskets, donated tote bags, placemats and pot holders; set up, purchased and sold food, as well as volunteered at the bingo night itself.  Tall Cedars was a great facility for the event.

It was especially fun to spend time with other members and share our hobby with family and friends. Everyone had a great time and all of the quilts and other prizes were off to happy new homes.
