January!

Hello and Happy New Year!

We are starting out our year of fun in 2015 with a mug rug swap at the January meeting.  Please make a mug rug with a winter theme, include a sample of a winter beverage that could sit on that mug rug, put it all in a small paper bag, and bring them to the January meeting.

The mug rug can be almost any size (over 6 inches, under 12 inches in each direction) and you can use any technique (piecing, applique, embellishments, fabric painting, dyeing).  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

We are also going to be signing up for new bees in January.  You will choose a type of bee (more about that in a minute) and make 2 blocks each month for six months.  You will get a chance to have your bee-mates make you blocks during one of those months.  The bees will run from February to August. You must sign up at the January meeting to be included (or email me directly by January 14th  LJRieben at gmail and I'll place you in a bee-members only).

Depending on the number of people who sign up, there may be more than three bees.

So, here are the choices:

1.  Scrappy Bee-  each queen bee will select a pattern, color scheme, or improv idea for the worker bees to stitch.  Block sizes can vary.  You will use your own stash to make the blocks.

2. Solids Bee- each queen bee will select the pattern, color scheme, or improv idea for the worker bees to stitch.  Block sizes can vary.  You will use your own stash of solids to create the blocks.  Queen bees can elect to provide some or all of the fabric if they wish.

3.  Carefully Planned Bee- Each queen bee will provide the pattern, the fabric, and the sizes for the worker bees to stitch.  The blocks can still be modern or improv blocks, just carefully planned to use the same fabrics.

If you are wild and adventurous, we will have a wild card choice and I will put you in whichever bee needs another player.

So there you have it!  Which bee will you join?
