February Meeting

Linda gave a talk on a unique and fast way to make a bow tie quilt block.

Several members shared the culmination of their fabric dying sessions with some striking modern quilts. Thanks to Diane for supporting this with her dying supplies.

Erin is busy getting ready for the birth of her baby and made a quilted changing pad. Diaper changing in style!

Summer told us about some intricate hand dyed fabrics she brought back from her recent trip overseas.
Many more creative and gorgeous projects were shared - go Baltimore!! 58 Members!

January Meeting Show and Share

Finishes! This was definitely the theme of our January meeting.  While we all proclaimed we didn't need to buy any more fabric for a while, we also know that hitting the stash or the UFO's is the  first step in the right direction!   Mug rugs were swapped which was a lot of fun. Members shared fun holiday projects, quilt tops and finished quilts. Becca and Maria also shared two amazing wall hangings.

Denyse Schmidt is coming to Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild - June 6

Join us for a day of Improvisational Patchwork with Denyse Schmidt.

Workshops & Events on the Road Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild is excited to announce that Denyse Schmidt will be coming to Baltimore on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Denyse brings eclectic influences together in patchwork quilts characterized by simple graphics, rich color and quality workmanship. Firmly rooted in the techniques of American quilt-making, Denyse Schmidt reinterprets tradition to make modern functional quilts that are fresh, lively and offbeat.

Here are some details about the workshop -
Drunk Love in a Log Cabin QueenIn this workshop, we explore the farthest reaches of improvisational patchwork – and your own creativity – using traditional patterns as a foundation. We begin with fun, fast-paced exercises to become completely familiar with a single quilt pattern. Once we internalize its basic structure, we can apply the principles of improvisation to create spontaneous and uniquely individual expressions of a single theme. Some improvisational piecing experience recommended but not required.
