General Meeting, July 14th, Arbutus Public Library

Summer Chat and Sew-In

We had a relaxed, low key meeting for July - many of our members were away on vacation or at MidAppalachian Quilters Symposium in Gettysburg, PA. Those of us who were left were treated to a small give-away of the fabric packets (two fat eighths each), threads (Aurifil 50 weight small spools) and batting squares (Hobbs) - left after the hand quilting demos by our members in June at The Maryland Historical Society (in conjunction with the exhibit Hometown Girl).

I did take a few photos of things members were working on that day (in between visiting and chatting and working on my own small project):

basting half-hex EPP shapes

sewing on binding

more EPP, of six pointed stars

glorious EPP hexie fun

Show and Share was, as always, wonderful. I only have partial notes, however, so please forgive me if I have forgotten your name! :)

Valerie has been working on a finishing a small quilt from Jackie Gehring's
class and a larger one for donation to our charity.

The front and back of a charity quilt made with cute sheep fabrics.

And one of two chicken quilts using Marcia Derse prints.

Gayne made a quilt for her grandson using 'boy' prints (front and back) ...

... and she's been making pretty dresses for her grand-daughter
(and an apron for her own daughter to match).

She made a quick quilt for a friend who has health issues - notice
the quilted hearts - whose name is Ruby.

She's making a Shelf Quilt (and things to go on her shelves like a sewing
machine) as well as an under-machine pad for her studio.

Notes and photos taken by Linda Schiffer. :)
