Lancaster Quilt Show

What a great time we had!

Laura, Lois, Dawn, Amy V and I were up and on the road by 7 AM, and got to Lancaster at 9, just as the doors opened. Jenn met us there, and we saw Amy McA later in the morning. We finally bumped into Deb later that afternoon. At first, I thought, 8 hours at a quilt show? You've got to be crazy! But the time flew by. Lots of great shopping. Lots of great quilts (more pictures later!) Oh, and of the 6 ladies below, 3 will go home with new machines within the week. (Ladies, I don't want to out you ~ I'll leave that up to you! Here's a clue:  I'm not one of them. Sad face.)

One of the highlights was bumping into Jay McCarroll!

He was totally adorable, nice as can be, extremely gracious as we gushed and posed for pictures! And he looked amazing! (I was going to say something, like he had gotten skinny, but didn't want to embarrass him, or me for that matter.) Best news of all, he said he'd be happy to come see us in Baltimore! Let's make this happen gals!

Great Exchanges at the Meeting!

It was a flurry of swaps and exchanges at the last meeting! First off, we had the First Quarter Bee Block exhange. Here are mine, Daniela's, Lainey's and Dawn's. (please include yours if you have pictures!)

We also did the round robin switch. No pictures, because we've agreed to keep the quilts  secret until the big reveal!

Next up, pincushions!

Fun, right?

Laura did a great demo for us, showing us how to do wonky curves. Everyone was successful. I can definitely see myself doing more of these!

I was awesome to see so many new faces! Our next meeting is Sunday, April 15, 12:30 to 5 PM at Seminole Sampler. This is a brief meeting and a full sewing afternoon! Please bring a finger food to share!

Quilty events off of the beaten track

I'm looking forward to our Guild outing to the American Quilter's Society Show in Lancaster on March 17. If you're going, you might consider the other quilt show happening at the same time. The Lancaster Quilt Show is entering its 22nd year at The Continental Inn.

The Quilt Show features a quilt exhibit and vendors mall.

Closer to home, the Baltimore Heritage Quilters' Guild is sponsoring Reflections of Nature: Captured in Stitches Quilt Show and Sale at Cylburn Arboretum.

The show runs March 2- 29 Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. http://www.cylburnassociation.org/.
