April 10, 2016 Meeting Highlights

The April meeting was held at the Owings Mills library.

First we want to give a big shout out to Aurifil Thread! They provided a free spool of thread to each of our members and whole box of Carolyn Freidlander thread which we drew tickets for at the meeting.
Aurifil Threads
Carol won the box of thread and left a very happy quilter.

The first large Bingo Quilt is completed and the second is starting construction. Quilt bingo is scheduled for October 7th. We need lots of small things for Bingo prizes, so please get quilting and bring your donations to the meetings.

Quilting Bee workers are creating beautiful blocks each month. Here are some of the first rounds.
Patchwork City Quilt-a-long  is progressing nicely. Participants brought in samples of their blocks for all to see.

Anne Sullivan gave a wonderful interactive workshop on Color Theory and choosing quilt fabrics.

Sujata Shah is coming to Baltimore!

Sujata Shah Organized Chaos Workshop Sign Ups with Baltimore MQG
What: The Baltimore MQG is hosting Sujata Shah ( for a workshop. Sujata will be teaching her Organized Chaos quilt. "Quilt so scrappy and mysterious, one glance is simply not enough! Traditional kaleidoscope blocks made with a super eclectic array of fabrics to reflect the charm of African American and southern quilts. In the beginning, we will focus on how to organize riot of colors and prints in a harmonious way to make Kaleidoscope blocks. Each one different than the next and so much fun, you wouldn't want to stop making them. Later in the day we will learn how to make design decisions to create secondary patterns with strategic construction and placement of blocks." Cost of workshop is $65 PLUS you must purchase required Kaleidoscope ruler and pattern.
When: Monday, May 9th from 10 am - 4:30 pm

Where: Owings Mills Library, 10302 Grand Central Ave, Owings Mills, MD 21117
