General Meeting, December 8, 2019,
Cockeysville Public Library
Our holiday party included goodies to eat, lots of time for happy chatting, quilt-themed Charades and a fat quarter exchange. Here are the show and tell details:
Susan Brightman shared a brief demo of making
pillowcases with the burrito method (a stash-busting project idea).
She uses yardage to create pillowcases for gifts and
charity donations (House of Ruth).
Valarie McNeese shared her finished Quilt In A Box (2018) project.
Sarah Lefebvre shared her completed Hoffman Challenge
project for QuiltCon (the background print is palm trees).
Monica Richardson showed her quarter log
cabin with a detail of the big stitch hand quilting;
she did say she would use a quilting hoop the next time she does this.
Monica finished foxy baby quilts for a co-worker's twin girls.
Monica also finished a Range back pack using fabrics from Domesticity.
MJ Snyder has been making some fun holiday projects
including machine embroidered snowballs,
a mug rug and a foundation pieced polar
bear block from Quiltmaker Magazine.
Jane Schiemer shared two completed quilts. The top (sharp points) project was foundation pieced and took ten years to finish; the bottom quilt is an Almost Amish puss in the corner design.
Gayne Barlow-Kemper's son's girlfriend recently completed her masters degree in Library Science and Poetry; Gayne made her a book shelf quilt in commemoration.
Daniela Syed made a Thanksgiving turkey pillow
and a cute vintage snow globes table
runner from a design by Lori Holt.
Phyllis Cook finished the top to commemorate
her daughter's wedding ... made from the table
toppers she created for their reception.
Jenn Paulson made a Christmas quilt for her
parents, partly as a challenge from her son.
Laura Baltatzis completed an online bee, added an applique turtle and finished it as a donation quilt for Head Start. She also made a third Christmas pillow for her mother in law.
Marsha Barnes made a lap quilt for her tall husband.
Kathy Palmer made a Lotties Block for a family friend's baby.
Wishing you all a happy holiday season!
