Workshop with Amy Friend

On Saturday, June 9th from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild will host AMY FRIEND of During Quiet Time at Spring Water Designs quilt shop in Columbia, MD.

Amy will be teaching a technique and design class based on her second book Improv Paper Piecing: A Modern Approach to Quilt Design. Students will learn to approach foundation pieced block designs improvisationally. You will design and sew your own block and work on a quilt layout that uses alternate grid work, negative space and other elements of modern quilt making.

This class will cost $70. All spots are currently filled but registration is open for the waitlist here.

Amy will present a trunk show and lecture at the monthly guild meeting on June 10th. Members are free; guests are welcome for a small fee. Please email Amy Rauen with any questions.

2018 Charity Quilt Challenge

Want to help a child in Baltimore with your quilting skills? Make a crib-sized quilt to be donated to Baltimore Early Headstart! The quilts are given directly to preschoolers in Baltimore along with a stack of free books, to create a "cozy corner" where they can snuggle up and read. Sounds great, right?

This year, the quilts will be collected at the August meeting and the challenge theme is stars! Follow your own inspiration or check out one of the great tutorials below. If stars aren't your thing, that's totally fine. All quilts are welcome.
